Mother India
Mother India is situated across from Kelvingrove art gallery
it the west end of gloasgow,Mother India's cafe offers a twist on tappas.
The twist is, of course, that Indian food replaces Spanish.
Small portions from an extensive but freshly produced menu put into practice. Our belief in the concept of trying a little and tasting a lot.
The initial experiment has been so well received that Mother India’s Café has become one of the most popular Restaurants in Glasgow.
Casual dining is the name of the game at the Café and both Asif and his front of house staff, along with the dedicated team in the Kitchen, work hard to create both the informal atmosphere and mouth watering dishes for the most important part of our business....You.
Complimentary cups of spicy soup are advance warning of the superior dining experience at Mother India, where the menu is confidently honed down to a single page of hand-picked and perfected dishes. Portions are huge, the fish pakora starter, flaking haddock marinated in warm ginger with the pleasant punch of green chilli, could serve as a main course, even without the side of bulgur wheat salad. The main courses are equally generous. Chicken spinach leaf is a beautifully presented supreme of chicken in a lightly spiced garlic sauce with fresh green leaves, complete with a side of potato dauphinoise. Lamb with broccoli and green chilli is gloriously meaty, pink tender lamb smoked with cloves, cut with a side of sweet, earthy beetroot. Sides can be healthy or hearty, choices range from rich peshwari naan to wholemeal flatbread with rye and millet, or the surprisingly delicious wholesome brown basmati pilaf. Winning praise, and awards, for two decades, Mother India has been hugely influential on the Glasgow curry scene as the original champions of home-style cooking, offering made to order dishes using whole spices and fresh ingredients.
